• An energy tax credit is available for improvements made to your home comfort systems in 2009 and 2010. The credit is available on the installation of higher efficiency central air conditioners, water heater, furnaces, boilers and air source heat pumps. The credit is equal to 30 percent of the installed cost of the improvements with a maximum credit of $1,500.
• And energy tax credits are available for the installation of solar hot water systems and geothermal heat pump systems occurring from January 1, 2009 through December 31, 2016. The credit is equal to 30 percent of the installed cost and there is no maximum cap on teh credit.
